Associate in Specialized Business - Criminal Justice

Day Program - 18 Months
Evening Program - 24 Months

In this program, students will learn both the theory and skill applications in the criminal justice field, in preparation for entry-level careers in:

  • Police units
  • Courts
  • Security
  • Corrections

Students will take course work to learn how to interpret crime statistics, write criminal justice reports, interpret criminal evidence and work in the criminal justice system.

BTI's criminal justice program is relevant to today's law enforcement and security. Students will learn court procedures in prosecuting, defending and preparing a criminal case from arrest through pleadings, motion practice and discovery to sentencing, appeal and expungement.

Course work will cover:

  • Criminology
  • Criminal investigations
  • Terrorism
  • Juvenile delinquency
  • Airport security
  • Security issues

Associate in Specialized Business - Paralegal/Legal Secretary

Day Program - 18 Months
Evening Program - 24 Months

A graduate will be familiar with a wide array of substantive law and general legal procedures and will be able to perform a number of tasks in a legal environment.

Graduates will master the following skills:

  • Legal research and writing
  • Standard legal forms
  • Legal pleading drafts and other documents
  • Litigation support
  • Client file management
  • Other related activities

Graduates will also become proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Windows applications and the Internet.
