Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice

The criminal justice and public safety fields offer many different career paths and positions. To pursue these career avenues, you need a solid education in criminal justice and a liberal arts knowledge base. Our Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice degree can help you take advantage of these career opportunities. The mission of the Hagerstown campus, criminal justice program is to provide you with the opportunity to develop a strong foundation and understanding of the areas of law enforcement, courts, corrections, and security. The program prepares you to pursue further studies or seek employment in the criminal justice and public safety fields. Upon graduation, you may qualify for entry-level employment in federal, state, and local criminal justice organizations such as police departments, law enforcement offices, juvenile correctional facilities, private sector security, and sheriff's departments. Additional academy training may be needed for certain law enforcement jobs.

Associate of Applied Science in Computer Forensics

Computer forensics is a career field that focuses on the investigation and analysis of computer-related criminal activity (sometimes called cybercrime). The computer forensics program at Kaplan College, Hagerstown campus, is designed to help you acquire the knowledge and technical skills required to pursue a career in this highly technical career field. This program is designed to lead to entry-level employment in national and local security, data and network security in public and private sectors, intrusion detection facilities, and several careers in the judicial system. Specific job titles may include computer forensics specialist, cybercrime investigator, network security analyst, security coordinator, security specialist.

Associate of Science in Paralegal Studies

Kaplan University, Hagerstown campus, is the only college in Nashville to offer an American Bar Association-approved paralegal education program. The Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies offers a level of training that provides you with a solid foundation in paralegal studies and a liberal arts knowledge base. Comprehensive study in areas such as legal research, civil litigation, contracts, and criminal law prepares the student for diverse career opportunities. Upon graduation, you can confidently apply for entry-level employment as a paralegal in legal environments including private law firms, corporations, and governmental agencies. However, paralegals are not lawyers and cannot practice law or give legal advice to consumers.
