Paralegal Studies at Platt College

The Paralegal Studies program at Platt College will provide you with the practical skills and detailed knowledge of legal procedure necessary to succeed in today's increasingly sophisticated legal environment. As part of our curriculum, students learn about:

  • criminal law and procedures
  • research and writing technique
  • civil procedure
  • pre-litigation and pre-trial procedure
  • contract formation law and more

By training in a variety of disciplines that include torts, family law, property, bankruptcy and probate, our graduates find themselves in demand by law firms of all sizes, corporate legal departments and government agencies among others.

Our program prepares paralegals for the many responsibilities they'll encounter in the real world, including:

  • preparing legal documents
  • initiating motions and discovery
  • managing client files and records
  • coordinating court appearances

At Platt College, the paralegal curriculum is supplemented with courses in English, environmental sciences, college math, psychology, art history and speech to give students the most well-rounded educational experience possible, ensuring you graduate confident and prepared to handle any challenge ahead.

Criminal Justice - Associate of Arts

The Platt College School of Legal Studies is pleased to announce that it is now offering an Associate of Arts degree in the fast-paced, rapidly-growing field of Criminal Justice.

The Criminal Justice program at the Platt School of Legal Studies prepares graduates to pursue careers in law enforcement, court administration, victim services, and corrections; or to advance towards further education in the field.

Paralegal Studies - Associate of Arts

Your fulfilling career as a paralegal assistant can begin with the Platt College Associate of Arts Degree in Paralegal Studies. The degree includes the completion of our paralegal course curriculum and general education component. Platt students typically finish this program in 15 months

Paralegal Studies - Bachelor of Arts

The Bachelor of Arts in Paralegal Studies program is designed to prepare graduates for entry-level positions as paralegal assistants. Upon completion of the program, the bachelor's graduates will have acquired the expanded technical knowledge and work skills necessary to work with various sizes of law firms, multi-service paralegal agencies, government agencies, and within the state and federal courts.
