Certificate in General Practice Paralegal (Day)

The General Practice Paralegal - Days Certificate program offers classes weekdays to help prepare you with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits required for a wide variety of entry-level paralegal positions. Courses stress understanding fundamental legal terminology and concepts and developing basic skills that will enable graduates to make effective use of their training. Practical skills are stressed over theoretical knowledge. Although the day program requires more credit hours than the evening program, it includes an externship that allows you to gain practical work experience in a law office, corporate, or other legal setting.

Paralegals may not provide legal services to the public. Associate's degree in any field of study required for admission into the paralegal program.

The criminal justice program at Kaplan College can provide you with knowledge and skills for entry-level positions in various fields of law enforcement. If you are already a working professional in a field of law enforcement, you may consider this program as a means to continue your education for advancement opportunities. As a graduate of the Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice program, you may qualify for entry-level employment and advancement in areas such as local law enforcement, detention or correctional specializations, probation/parole, corporate security, public safety, private detection or investigation, and government. Additional academy training may be required for certain law enforcement positions.

Associate's in Paralegal Studies

At Kaplan College, our Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies program can help you develop an understanding of fundamental legal terminology and concepts. Our curriculum is intended to prepare you for employment in various industries, assisting a broad range of legal professionals. Graduates of this program have many employment options in areas such as legal research, legal investigations, title abstraction, and trial preparation. After completion, you can pursue entry-level employment in law firms, private attorneys' offices, courthouses, government agencies, insurance companies, and legal departments of companies. Paralegals are not lawyers and cannot practice law or give legal advice to consumers.
