Welcome to Fremont College!
Located in the heart of Cerritos, a short drive from Los Angeles,
Fremont College is in a convenient location within Southern
California.
Fremont College fosters in students an appreciation for the
nuances of the education process and a readiness for the journey
from school to professional career.
We are currently executing a major academic expansion plan, which
includes new degree programs in Business Administration, with
concentrations available in Internet Marketing, Accounting, and
Human Resources, as well as Sports and Rehabilitation Therapy. We
also offer a Massage Therapy diploma program, and an ABA-approved
Paralegal Studies Degree providing training in Legal Practice
Technology.
Fremont College occupies a newly-designed, modern facility in
Cerritos, California, and has hired even more star-quality
instructors to empower student learning. The difference between
Fremont College and other schools is an innovative and effective
learning model: Professional Action Learning Embedded with
Industry™. This model of education effectively closes the
gap between the classroom and the workforce, enabling students to
immediately apply what they learn following graduation and over
the course of their professional careers.
Our enhancements are best described by Fremont College's Chairman
and CEO, Sabrina Kay: "This expansion initiates a paradigm shift
in education for young adults to reach their full potential, and
changes their lives for the better in rapidly-growing, in-demand
industries."
Professional Action Learning Embedded with
Industry™
The hallmark of Fremont College's differentiation strategy is its
Professional Action Learning Embedded with
Industry™ (PAL) methodology. Developed over two
decades in the education industry by Fremont College's Chairman
and CEO Sabrina Kay, PAL is an educational technique emphasizing
student interaction, open dialogue, and targeted pedagogical
styles to foster incredible success within the classroom.
Visitors to Fremont's college campus will observe that all of its
classrooms and labs physically demonstrate this learning method.
For example, the placement of the students' chairs is reflective
of the PAL methodology – all of the chairs face each other
rather than the front of the room. PAL is a real-life
demonstration of the belief that an instructor can deliver
excellent and clear knowledge to a class of students, but until
that knowledge is digested, debated, discussed, and taught back,
it will never be ingrained into the student's consciousness, and
in turn, never applied in the real world.
The following elements comprise the PAL system. Classes are
divided into four or five segments, and each section is designed
to improve student information retention and comprehension.
1 - Concept Presentation
2 - Questioning Dialogue
3 - Group Discussion
4 - Teach-back
5 - Industry Experience
By embedding the curricula with industry experience, students
will get a firsthand view of their post-graduation careers.
Students may demonstrate and practice their knowledge via
community outreach activities, meet with guest speakers who work
in their field, or might visit offices in their career fields of
choice. Direct industry experience reinforces student knowledge,
providing all Fremont College attendees with confidence in their
professional interactions with the greater Cerritos, California,
community.

Paralegal Course of Study
Students learn the basics of American law. This field of study
has a rich history rooted in English common law, and has since
been expanded and re-defined by court cases, legislation, and
administrative proceedings. Students are prepared to grasp legal
concepts and engage in legal analysis. These skills are
especially helpful for paralegals interested in critical,
law-defining cases such as appeals and other high court
decisions. Paralegals are prepared to help draft legal documents
and assist attorneys with filing and organizing legal materials
with the courts. The American Bar Association (ABA) approves the
Fremont College Paralegal Studies degree program, and reviews its
compliance each year.
The program follows a sequence that builds on core fundamentals
taken early in the program. For example, students are introduced
to the legal industry, the court system, and the synthesis of
lawyers and paralegals in the workplace. Ethics, client privacy
guidelines, and legal lawyer and paralegal practices are taught
as integral components of the program. Ethics is the sole focus
of one course, and its fundamentals are iterated throughout the
program.
Course work in Civil and Criminal procedure and practice, and
Legal Research courses follow Ethics, rounding out the
fundamental classes for the paralegal education program.
Advanced-standing students prepare for legal specialty areas in
Family Law, Property & Probate, Torts, Contracts -- and, in
corporate law through a course in Business Organizations.
Graduation and Career Options
The job duties and functions of a paralegal vary from law firm to
law firm, and from student to student. Paralegals work under the
direct supervision of an attorney; however, they are able to
lighten attorney case loads by taking on some of the legal work
themselves. Legal research and writing are two of the most common
tasks a paralegal with a degree will perform. Paralegals are
frequently responsible for case management and organization;
court filing or trial exhibit preparation; and drafting mortgage
documents, divorce papers, and many other types of legal
documents. Careers available for paralegals are growing.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, it is one of the
fastest-growing careers of the decade.
Preparing for a Paralegal Career
Fremont College offers general education classes as part of the
Paralegal Studies Degree; this component of the paralegal
education helps students to prepare for a law-oriented career.
Very strong communication, organization, and English writing and
grammar skills are necessary for success in the legal field.
Fremont helps students gain proficiency in these general
education areas and aids students in becoming successful
researchers, technologists and collaborators in the workplace.
Fremont's English course helps Paralegal Studies students to make
immediate contributions in their new law careers. Students gain
proficiency in computer applications, business theory and
application, finance, math and critical thinking. Upon program
completion, students will be prepared to seek Paralegal careers
in California including Los Angeles, Orange County, Cerritos,
Irvine, Huntington Beach, Long Beach, and other locations.
