Associate of Science in Criminal Justice
The Criminal Justice program, with an emphasis in Criminal Investigation/Loss Prevention Security prepares the graduate to work in a variety of positions in the law enforcement field, security, loss prevention and emergency medical care in the public or private sectors. The instruction includes comprehensive investigation studies, practical applications techniques including crime scene forensics, analysis of security systems and physical protection of persons and property in hospitals, industrial and retail businesses and government public safety agencies. The investigation of white-collar crime and the analysis of deviant behavior will enhance both criminal investigation and loss prevention security.
The curriculum also includes P.O.S.T. PC 832 and Emergency Medical Training.
Program Objective
The graduate will be trained in crime scene analysis and evidence procurement and evaluation. The student will have a broad grasp of the criminal justice system in dealing with government agencies, the courts and private security investigations. The graduate will also have the skills to plan, direct and oversee implementation of comprehensive security systems for protection of individuals, businesses, hospitals, commercial and industrial organizations.
Career Opportunities
The graduate may be employed in any area of law enforcement including federal, state and local agencies in positions of: city police officer, county sheriff, state highway patrol, special investigator, special agent, crime scene technician, security supervisor, security manager, emergency management of industrial, commercial, healthcare, retail loss prevention, corporate security, ambulance attendant and emergency room attendant.
