The mission of the College of Saint Elizabeth is to be a

The justice studies program at the College of Saint Elizabeth
(CSE) is a 40-credit multidisciplinary program within the
128-credit undergraduate degree offering a choice of two tracks:
criminal justice and legal studies. An 18-credit justice studies
minor is also available in either criminal justice, legal studies
or victim services.
The program is open to both adult men and women through the
School of Graduate and Continuing Studies, as well as traditional
age Women's College students. The curriculum is designed to
provide students with a broad but intensive understanding and
appreciation of the social, ethical, political and cultural
issues pertinent to criminal justice and the law. This degree is
specifically designed to continue the education of criminal
justice and legal professionals and to prepare students looking
to begin careers in criminal justice and law.
NOTE: Adult students applying through the School of Graduate and
Continuing Studies can transfer a maximum of 96 college credits
(if applicable to program).

The College of Saint Elizabeth (CSE) has established an 18-credit
program designed to provide students with theoretical and
practical knowledge of the criminal justice/legal system. The
student will gain an understanding of the sociological and
psychological theories of victimization, effects of
victimization, training in basic intervention/counseling skills
and professional experience in victim services through a
professional internship placement. A 50% tuition discount is
available for current criminal justice professionals, such as
police officers, law enforcement personnel, firefighters, court
administrators, correction officers and members of the US Armed
Forces on active duty.
There is a growing movement within the criminal justice system in
the United States to better support and serve victims of crime.
This movement, which had its beginnings in New Jersey, is now
becoming nationwide. Police departments, social service agencies,
as well as county prosecutors' offices, are providing victim
services. The program is taught by experienced faculty members
and consists of a combined curriculum from the areas of justice
studies, psychology and sociology. This certificate would be
beneficial to any individual looking to pursue a career in any
area of victim services or a current professional within the
criminal justice system, social work agencies, hospitals and
community mental health agencies.

Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology and Counseling

The M.A. in Forensic Psychology and Counseling program offered by
the College of Saint Elizabeth provides graduate with the skills
and knowledge they need to provide effective, high quality mental
health counseling and evaluation services in a variety of
forensic settings. The program balances traditional knowledge of
counseling with the understanding, evaluation, and treatment of
adult and juvenile offenders, as well as the victims of crime and
domestic violence. The curriculum will prepare graduates to work
in a number of settings such as juvenile detention centers,
secure forensic units in state facilities, community mental
health centers, jails/prisons, probation services, court service
units, protective services, violence risk assessment, and
specialized agencies such as child advocacy centers.
Unique Elements of this program
- Students can complete their degree in 2 ½ years
through a cohort-based model by attending classes twice a week or
students can choose to progress through the program at their own
pace if the cohort model is not convenient for their needs.
- All courses are offered either on weeknights or Saturdays to
meet the needs of busy adult learners.
