The criminal justice program provides you with the skills
necessary to maintain law and order, protect life and property
and conduct administration, planning and research services. It is
designed to prepare you for a career in corrections, criminology,
forensic sciences, law enforcement, immigration and security
administration.

The Associate of Applied Science degree in Paralegal provides
students with a basic background and knowledge of the American
legal system and the necessary research skills needed to assist
with the preparation of legal documents and briefs. The program
prepares students to research legal issues, draft legal
documents, prepare pleadings, summarize documents, organize trial
notebooks and interview clients.
The program provides students with both a practical and
theoretical education in the legal profession. Students will be
able to use their knowledge of law and legal procedures to assist
lawyers, clients and courts in the areas of interviewing;
gathering, reviewing and analyzing fact situations; researching
the law; and preparing and interpreting legal documents. Other
courses in the program include: Criminal Procedures, which
examines the basic concepts of constitutional criminal procedures
including searches and seizures, arrests and interrogations,
trial, appeals and punishment; Family Law, which examines aspects
of divorce, custody, adoption, and community property; and
Contract Law, which teaches formation of contracts, breach of
contracts and the remedies for breach of contract.
